CUPE Local 3912 has filed notice of its members’ intention to strike as early as Tuesday, October 21. Strike notice does not mean a strike is certain — negotiations are scheduled for Monday (October 20), and we remain hopeful an agreement can be reached that would prevent a strike.

Members of CUPE Local 3912 have voted in favour of the tentative agreement agreed to by the respective bargaining teams earlier this week. Classes/labs/tutorials will resume on their normal schedules Monday.

Negotiators representing the Dalhousie Board of Governors and CUPE Local 3912 have reached a tentative collective agreement. CUPE may choose to end its strike action at any time. We will provide more information in the event that occurs.

The withdrawal (W) date for all Fall Term courses has changed to November 25. Some students may begin hearing from their Faculties, programs and instructors over the Study Break about changes to course delivery.

It is with great disappointment that we update everyone that negotiations this week between the bargaining teams representing Dalhousie University’s Board of Governors and CUPE Local 3912 were not successful.

The Dalhousie Board of Governors and CUPE will return to the bargaining table on Nov 2 and 3.

CUPE Local 3912 has responded to the Board’s proposal (on October 24) to refer the remaining collective bargaining issues to arbitration, indicating they will not agree to take part in arbitration at this time. The Board has now written to CUPE with proposed dates to return to the bargaining table early next week.
